The Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE)

A program of the Aspen Institute, the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) is a global network of organizations that propel entrepreneurship in emerging markets. ANDE members provide critical financial, educational, and business support services to small and growing businesses (SGBs) based on the conviction that SGBs will create jobs, stimulate long-term economic growth, and produce environmental and social benefits. Ultimately, we believe that SGBs can help lift countries out of poverty. Launched with 34 members in 2009, ANDE now comprises more than 290 members who collectively operate in more than 150 countries.

ANDE is looking for an Operations and Talent Manager, based in our Washington, DC office. This is a full-time position.

Position Description

You are a yes, and type of person. You think of yourself as the ultimate team player and your team knows they can count on you to keep all of the balls you are juggling in the air. Not only are you great at the details, but also you understand how small tasks can be essential to big, audacious goals like alleviating poverty. You are resourceful and when you see a problem, you jump at the chance to fix it. Your initial instinct when developing a new process is to make it as efficient as possible because while the details are essential, you know that efficiencies are just as important.

You have a proven track record of moving from scotch tape and rubber bands to a well-oiled machine that defies gravity. You passionately believe that if you can support the right people in the right roles, magic can happen. Yet you are patient and empathetic with colleagues who may not be as organized as yourself and are willing to teach them your well-honed tricks of the trade.

The Operations and Talent Manager will report directly to the Managing Director and will support operations in the US and internationally.

Specifically, the Manager will:

  • Work across the organization to ensure that the trains run on time and that resources are being appropriately allocated and utilized.
  • Implement and manage a robust talent development strategy that includes new plans for recruiting, onboarding, compensating, training, evaluating and coaching/providing professional development and growth opportunities to staff.
  • Oversee the operational implementation of ANDEs newly revised organizational strategy.
  • The ideal candidate for this role:

  • Has at least a Bachelors degree and 5+ years of experience managing human resource and operations functions for a growing, international organization
  • Is excited by the opportunity to promote market-based approaches to prosperity creation in emerging markets
  • Has experience developing, implementing and maintaining systems and processes
  • Is motivated by helping others reach their potential and thrilled to celebrate their professional successes
  • Has experience working at an organization that is moving from start-up mode to a larger, more-established enterprise
  • Has International experience and is excited to work in a multi-cultural environment
