Responsible for coordination of outside contracted services and in-house repairs throughout company facilities and grounds. Monitors building systems for proper operation, and assists with repair of these systems as necessary. This FTE position reports to and assists the Supervisor of Facilities in the daily operations & maintenance of the facility & other support departments.


* Coordinates or performs changes or repairs to electrical & mechanical systems in facilities as required

* Coordinates or performs surface maintenance as required to keep facilities in good condition

* Responsible for the implementation of preventive maintenance of equipment, enrollment program and for the Lockout / tagging procedure

* Responsible for day-to-day rounds and building walks of boiler rooms, chiller rooms, electrical rooms and roof walks to identify problems and report them to their supervisor

* Reviews installation, remodeling, and repair project schematics to determine the scope of projects, necessary equipment, materials, and assistance, and recommends potential changes

* Complies with local, state and federal rules and regulations. Performs other related duties as assigned. On an as needed basis

* Replenishes and maintains up to date inventory of Facilities department parts storage and other areas in a neat and orderly fashion

* Provides \"on call\" response to facilities, building system and equipment alarms on a rotating basis, in conjunction with other Facilities Department personnel

* Active member of both the Emergency Response Team and the Spill Response Team

* Facilities maintenance project management ? as needed basis

* Responsible for some emergency facilities maintenance and can work flexible hours

* Examining and diagnosing facilities maintenance problem areas


* 5?7 years' experience in facility maintenance, biotech experience a plus

* Knowledge of electrical, electronic and mechanical principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation

* Strong knowledge of plumbing systems

* The ability to assist facilities engineering in emergencies

* Work involves physical exertion at times in transporting of various materials and equipment, lifting, moving, or carrying heavy materials over 30 pounds

* Experience with working in a GXP laboratory environment 5-7 years is required

* Organizational skills and self-motivation is required

* The ability to work a flexible schedule during off-hours and weekends as necessary

* Must take ownership of individual projects and specified building maintenance

* Individual must obtain either a Refrigeration Operating Engineer License or a Grade 3 Steam Engineer License or completed the second level of a Building Operator Certification program or equivalent

* Understanding of basic lighting systems, Watt Stopper lighting control experience is preferred

* Understanding of 120/277 and 480V 3 phase power distribution

* Knowledge of a wide variety of typical maintenance tasks, door and lock repairs, some experience in Corbin Russwin and Yale

* Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communications skills. Must be able to develop and draft clear procedures for operations and maintenance documentation

* Desire to work in a fast paced, state of the art, alternately research and customized manufacturing facility

* Knowledge and understanding of OSHA regulations and safe work practices

* Working knowledge of MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint) as well as the use of Computerized Maintenance Management System, CMMS

* Has the ability to replace faucets, sink drains and other basic plumbing needs throughout the canyon park facilities

* Follow-through and completion of work orders

* Ability to work in a team environment and assist other technicians when needed


* Some college coursework in Engineering, Maintenance, Bio-Engineering, or related field or Technical Training, or Certifications or Trade Licensing
