PACSHIP facilities are strategically located to support the major West Coast Navy Fleet ports in Southern California and Puget Sound (Bremerton & Everett), Washington. Our smaller size and mobility prove advantageous to our customers since our workforce is trained to respond both quickly and properly equipped to planned and emergency repair requirements at locations remote to our shipyards.
Position Summary
NDT Level II Inspector is capable of visual and dimensional inspections and/or functional testing to the company standards and requirements. Performs and documents results of Quality Control/NDT Inspections, on board ship or in shop, to verify work is performed according to specifications. Position requires routine communication and coordination with Supervisors, Trade Departments and Customers for required inspection points. May require travel to both Puget Sound locations (Bremerton and Everett).
Performs and documents Non-Destructive Testing, Visual (VT), Liquid Penetrant (PT), Magnetic Particle (MT); assists in coordinating customer inspections.
Conducts routine surveillances of in-process work to ensure standards are adhered to.
Assists in the development and execution of Process Control Procedures required by contract specifications.
Prepare, maintain, and submit complete and accurate records including surveillance reports.
Assembles and provides required reference and inspection documentation to multiple departments.
Monitor job site safety, promote safe work practices, and rectify job site hazards.
High School Diploma/GED or approved High School equivalency diploma.
Minimum 5 Years of experience in ship building/repair or industrial trades with background in welding and/or non-destructive testing.
ASNT Level II NDT Certification or AWS CWI Certification required (VT, PT, MT).
Proficiency in utilizing Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel and Outlook.
Physical/Mental Involvement & Environmental Factors
Physical dexterity must allow for bending and reaching.
Must be able to spend up to 70%- 100% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates.
Periodic inspections require climbing ladders, working at heights, walking on scaffolding, and observing tools, equipment and/or machinery while in operation.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is often exposed to dust, welding/burning fumes, and smoke.
The noise level is usually moderate to extremely noisy 70% of the time, which may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammering.
Other Requirements:
Must be able to obtain access to military/secured facility, this requires a criminal background check.
Must be able to pass drug screening.
