Director, Strategic Partnerships

We are searching for a proactive and passionate leader with exceptional engagement and communications skills to join our Engineering & Product Design business as a member of the strategic partnership team, with responsibility to oversee and manage a portfolio of strategic partner relationships.

The successful candidate will partner directly with senior executives and business leaders in their assigned partnership, and will be tasked with sustaining and growing long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships. Essential is cultivating trust with our partners, earned through consistently striving to achieve their objectives and deliver on commitments. In this role, the candidate will strike terms of business which optimally balance the goals of our partners with IHS Markits business strategy and performance objectives.

Equally important will be the ability to develop thriving relationships with internal colleagues in sales, marketing, product, customer success, legal, reporting and operations, to ensure a flawless level of support and transparency is provided to their partners.

The candidate will be expected to operate across the gamut of responsibilities, covering every-day royalty negotiations and service requests to industry intelligence gathering to long-term strategy licensing agreements.

To succeed in this position, candidates should have exceptional communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. The role demands resourcefulness, adaptability, and a high degree of organization, with the ability to build rapport with partners, up to the most senior levels.

Responsibilities:

  • Communicating with partners to understand their goals and explain the value delivered by IHS Markit
  • Building relationships with partners based on trust, honesty, respect and mutual advantage
  • Developing a deep understanding of partners strategic goals, and of the ecosystem of partner organizations that form our supplier base
  • Negotiate with partners and advocate for the IHS Markit perspective, challenging partner demands where necessary
  • Collaborating with internal departments to facilitate partner needs fulfilment
  • Developing detailed contract terms which protect and grow the IHS Markit franchise
  • Providing advice and counselling about supplier products and pricing to help competitive sales bids
  • Organizing meaningful business review meetings, performance data and usage insights which add value to partner strategy and operations
  • Keeping accurate account notes and following-up to ensure promises are kept
  • Prioritizing and managing projects to ensure key external milestones are achieved
  • Maintaining an up-to-date knowledge of IHS Markit products and services in order to demonstrate value of our franchise to partners
  • Resolving complaints and inaccuracies, and proactively working across the business to prevent additional issues by improving processes
  • Understanding the revenue and margin impact of supplier products on our business
  • Identifying industry and competitive trends
  • Developing new relationships as required by the IHS Markit strategic direction
  • Providing critical leadership across the business to resolve important time-bound issues
  • Acting as a client advocate with a focus on improving the supplier experience.
  • Requirements:

  • 7+ years experience in sales, communications, account management or related field
  • Experience of engineering or industry standards
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to present information, handle detail, influence decisions and work with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to review, track and analyze commercial deals
  • Adaptability and strong problem-solving skills
  • Excellent active listening and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build rapport and collaborate with others within the company and externally
  • Extensive, accurate product knowledge
  • Ability to travel - travel including overnight domestic or international trips to visit partner organizations will be required.
