The SCADA Engineering Technician will be responsible for defined work or projects. You will work within defined parameters to make decisions, apply technical concepts to issues of moderate complexity, and resolve issues through immediate action or short-term planning.
Work safely in and around energized substations and WTG (Wind Turbine Generator) systems Interface and communicate effectively with off-site support Maintain strong safety mindset to assure the executed work reflects the technical requirements within GE safety standards Drive EHS (Environmental Health & Safety) culture and ensure compliance Work with SCADA support teams as needed to maintain the integrity of the wind farm power collection systems as a whole Assist in creating control center monitoring protocol and operating procedures for substation monitoring Develop and further expand technical knowledge and expertise of currently recognized industry standards for SCADA system maintenance Work remotely, with little or no supervision Complete all paperwork and expense reporting in a timely manner, and charge time against project codes as needed to account for effort expended to provide remote support to GE Projects and Services Field Teams
The SCADA Engineering Technician will typically work remotely, to review one line diagrams, schematics, civil drawings, mechanical drawings, equipment manuals, and other technical documents to commission and troubleshoot SCADA systems. An understanding of the function of components in the substation and collection system is essential. You will bring extensive knowledge of servers, routers, switches, Ethernet, GE Wurldtech, GE WindSCADA, GE WindCONTROL, GE ToolboxST, Visupro, WFMS, and have basic knowledge of substation transformers, protective relays, UPS systems, substation telemetry and SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition) systems. You will occasionally travel to the field to conduct training or provide onsite support as needed to troubleshoot and commission systems, train Commissioners and Services technicians in proper interaction with the various systems. You will commission and perform acceptance testing using defined test procedures and protocols, and will assist in generating test procedures and protocols. You will work with sales teams to provide job cost estimates and assist in developing verbiage for quotes and contracts.
As the SCADA Engineering Technician, you will possess the ability to:
Bachelor's Degree in a Technical Electrical / Electronic discipline from an accredited college or university (OR an Associate's Degree in a Technical Electrical / Electronic discipline with a minimum of 2 years experience in SCADA OR a High School Diploma / GED with a minimum of 4 years experience in SCADA, OR equivalent Military education and 4 years of experience in SCADA)

Hands-on experience with pertinent test equipment Strong interpersonal and leadership skills Communication and problem solving skills Six Sigma or equivalent quality certification Familiarity with GE Wind operating functions Self-motivated and self-starter Ability to motivate support groups and convey urgency in customer needs and concerns Knowledge of NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation) / CIP (Critical Infrastructure Protection) / ISO (Independent System Operator) / OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) Knowledge of WFMS (Wind Farm Management System) / GE WindCONTROL / GE WindSCADA Experience and familiarity with various program languages and applications, such as Java Script, XML, Visual Basic, SQL, .net, and MatLab Experience and familiarity with various communication protocols and architectures such as OPC, DNP3, ModBus and EGD Experience and familiarity with both Bachmann and GE Controls MkVIe programmable logic controllers and other PLCs Experience with Host Environments, Active Directory, Domain Controllers, and Group Policy Objects
