Relay Technician 4
Flux is currently seeking a Relay Technician 4 to join our project team onsite with our client in Snohomish, WA. The position installs and troubleshoots Protective Relay equipment in Power Substations.
Position Responsibilities include:
Perform initial acceptance tests and commissioning checks for new installations and obtain data to be used by other personnel.
Consult manuals, schematics, wiring diagrams, and engineering personnel to:
Troubleshoot and solve equipment problems
To identify and discern optimum equipment functioning.
Use technical documentation as required to maintain, repair, or troubleshoot equipment issues.
Under direct technical guidance, perform miscellaneous duties related to the maintenance of equipment, which may occur at substations or remote locations to include troubleshooting, installation and maintenance of power system protection equipment.
Use test equipment and accepted procedures to perform preventative, corrective, or installation work for the following equipment:
Revenue metering
Power system protective relaying
Transfer trip
Fault and event recording
Bench-board control instrumentation
Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition ( SCADA) transducers
Telemetering
Miscellaneous control equipment such as fiber optic multiplexed alarms or specialized electronic devices.
Prepare and draft reports which in general are a collection of test data, instrument readings, and other pertinent information that can be used by engineering staff to make an engineering determination on the equipment's operation.
May perform special assignments related to System Protection Control (SPC) work including assisting with developing test programs; the development and assembly of special test circuits, and performing novel tests.
Draft and prepare trouble-shooting instructions to assist with providing training to craftsman trainees.
Draft and prepare test result documentation feedback from Relay protection equipment.
Position Requirements:
Education/Experience:
An Associates in Electronic Engineering Technology is preferred.
9 years of work experience in electrical field installing, performing testing, troubleshooting, repairing and integrating equipment is required.
2 years specialized training is required. Specialized training includes formal training at a technical school or apprenticeship including electronics communications classes (Power System classes, Protective Relaying, SCADA systems, etc.).
Note: Specialized training must be included in resume and list the specific classes/training being claimed as 'qualifying', including a list of hours for each class and the name of the institution where the classes were taken.
Experience should include testing, installing, and troubleshooting circuit equipment.
Technical Requirements:
9 years' experience in testing and installing protection equipment and command control circuitry projects.
9 years' experience troubleshooting communications systems and substation control systems.
9 years' experience installing new communications and control equipment at electrical utility or comparable public or private utility facilities.
9 years' experience integrating communications and control systems at electrical utility or comparable public or private utility facilities.
9 years' experience setting and modifying electrical utility or comparable public or private utility communications and control equipment.
9 years' experience electric utility systems, design practices, testing standards, safety standards, work standards and duties and tasks related to installation, testing, maintenance and repair of substation relay and control systems.
