Reporting to the Transplant Program Executive Nursing Director, the BMT Transplant Navigator will get to work with an outstanding team of Hematology and Oncology ONS and ONC Registered Nurses and RN Leaders. This person will serve in a leadership role within the service line, taking responsibility for an array of both patient-focused and program-based duties.

Primarily working with Blood Cancer Patients and their families, the Bone Marrow Transplant Nurse Navigator will serve as an Educator and Advocate for care:

  • By assessing patient needs and coordinating care within the BMT / Hematology / Blood Cancer Nursing Department
  • By developing and leading patient and family education of the disorder & disease process, treatment options, and side effects
  • By communicating clearly all aspects of the treatment plan to the patient, their families, and members of the Clinical team that will perform the Transplant.

The Bone Marrow Transplant Department at this hospital offers a wide array of services to both inpatient and outpatient populations. Typical conditions treated include Leukemia (both acute and chronic), Hodgkin and Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma, Myeloproliferative neoplasms, and other Hematologic malignancies. This department is also equipped to treat more benign hematologic conditions such as Clotting Disorders, Anemia, and Hemophilia. The BMT Nurse Navigator will have the opportunity to work with patients from across this spectrum, as well as more fragile admitted patients who may be receiving multiple treatments.
