Come join our team Job Summary This job is responsible for collaborating with clinical service lines in carrying out performance/efficiency improvement projects/initiatives for the assigned Franciscan Health System (FHS) facility to address/strengthen patient safety, utilization of clinical resources and achievement of desired clinical outcomes. An incumbent serves as project manager for a variety of management-level work teams, providing support, expertise and guidance in: 1) the application of accepted clinical quality improvement methodologies/tools; 2) data collection and statistical/operational analysis; 3) outcomes measurement; 4) risk assessment; 5) best practices research; 6) documenting and implementing process improvements; and 7) evaluating desired vs. actual clinical effectiveness of performance improvement efforts. Work also includes identifying and validating evidence-based best practices in clinical practice and patient safety to guide clinical areas in performance improvement activities, and researching the nature/scope of impact on existing activities to make appropriate recommendations. Performance improvement efforts cover a variety of processes, and an incumbent must be sufficiently knowledgeable to recognize important synergies and opportunities in clinical outcomes, cost containment, patient safety/satisfaction and regulatory compliance. Key contacts include FHS management, physicians and other healthcare providers, for the purpose of influencing or persuading in order to promote understanding of clinical data, collaborate and gain acceptance of recommendations, and achieve overall clinical objectives. Work also involves significant interdisciplinary collaboration with other groups responsible for, or in support of, performance improvement initiatives. This position requires a high degree of professionalism and an ability to interact with a variety of internal and external entities/individuals to develop productive relationships, significantly increase the visibility/viability clinical performance improvement efforts and to facilitate achievement of program goals that respond to government mandates and organizational/regulatory needs. Job duties require knowledge of the specialized principles and best practices related to clinical outcomes and data management in order to evaluate and make viable recommendations for improving health care delivery system(s) and enhancing hospital/service line effectiveness, efficiency and compliance. Work also requires maintaining current knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements/accreditation standards, patient safety goals, as well as effective performance improvement methodologies and clinical informatics concepts/practices. Essential Duties Plans, coordinates and facilitates performance/efficiency improvement team projects and initiatives (in collaboration with FHS leadership/management, medical staff, department staff) to ensure that standards, objectives, timelines and deliverables are met. Identifies new site-based performance improvement opportunities as they relate to FHS outcomes, values and/or business objectives; analyzes and assesses clinical practices for opportunities to improve healthcare delivery. Applies accepted standards, tools and methodologies to uphold data-based performance improvement activities/initiatives; analyzes current problems/processes; collects/analyzes relevant data; uncovers root causes; tests and assesses results. Serves as representative on enterprise-wide projects/committees/meetings that address systemic performance improvement initiatives to facilitate the implementation of consistent practices that adequately take into consideration site-based objectives and priorities. Imagine your career at Catholic Health Initiatives Education/Experience Bachelors degree in nursing or other healthcare-related discipline, and five years of related work experience that demonstrates the attainment of the requisite job knowledge, skills and abilities, including experience in outcomes measurement, risk assessment, data analysis/reporting and management of clinical work teams. Masters degree in a discipline related to the requirements of the position is desirable. License/Certification Current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the Washington State Nursing Commission.
